I don't know if everyone had the same difficulties I did joining Yuku but it was not very user friendly. I am a snow bird from Alaska. My wife and I run a fishing charter there from May till Sept, the name is Ofishial Charters of Alaska. if you are ever planning a trip there look us up at www.ofishial.com.
Thanks for the reply. Been fishing my whole life, never went shrimping. Was out on Banana River near 528 in my son's canoe. Probably spooked the shrimp. We were using a bright spotlight - shining it on the surface. Still on a learning curve. We do have under water lights to use next time out. Are any shrimp running now? we don't care if we only catch a few, just trying to learn.

Hello,

was wondering if there are any folks out there who would be able to talk to a couple of new folks looking to learn the "how to and how not to" of recreational shrimping next week. My wife and I will be in Florida next week (23rd to the 30th), Venice, Sanibel, Big Pine Key and West Palm, not necessarily in that order, and were looking to learn a bit about shrimping. Love to eat 'em and use 'em for bait but have never thought about catching 'em. We're taking a few days to visit and walk the beaches, so we have a good bit of time available. If there is such a thing as a shrimping charter where we can learn by doing please let us know. We'll be driving down from Pennsylvania on Sunday the 22nd, need to get some warm weather on our shoulders for a few days.

Thanks for any suggestions or information,

Joe

hello everyone! I am so glad that I have found this site. It is going to change everything for me. After years of longing for a dip net, my mother inlaw bought one for me for Christmas.. best gift ever. Now, shrimping. I love everything about it, specially since you can see the boogers and catch them as apposed to fishing where I seem to blindly cast my pole and hope something will bite. It seems I gain more of a gratification out of this.. I know nothing about shrimping an know nobody else who shrimps, other than in boats which I don't have one so this leaves me on a bridge all hours of the night hoping I am doing things right. I started off with propane hooded lanterns and have now broke down and bought a battery and 12v lights so, now I can manage things a lot easier by myself. Everything is going fine.. but only 3 shrimp caught.. and thats all that I have seen... which leads me to this simple question to ask this community.. what makes shrimp run? air temp, water temp, wind...
