It seems that most of the shrimp come from the Tomoka River Basin area and migrate through Matanzas Inlet and Ponce Inlet.  During the evening hours they move into the shallow mud flats (mud up) where they eat and molt when necessary.  During the daylight hours they move into the deeper channels and take either a northerly or southerly route as they head out of the inlets to the ocean.  You can catch them on either tide.

I have caught them in the basin area in as little as 3 feet of water and I have caught them in 22 feet of water from High Bridge to Dunlawton and everywhere inbetween during daylight hours.
