After seeing the difference first hand in the amount of shrimp netted with webbing vs no webbing I decided to tape my net.
I went to Wally world(Wal-Mart) and bought a roll of 30yd automobile duct tape (cost about $5) for an eight ft net. Auto duct tape is more durable and last longer in out door elements. More than likely it will out last my net.
I started out by laying the net across my lap and placing the tape about 4-5 inches above the lead line. Once the front was done I took a short piece of shelving and pu it across my lap for support when applying tape to the backside. The firm surface helped to keep the net tight and from other parts of the net sticking to the tape. It took about an hour and its ready to go.
I'm planning on trying it out tomorrow at big tree. I will post afterwards and let you know how it worked out. My brother-in-law will be with me (no webbing) so we should see the difference up close and personal. If he doesn't wine I might let him use mine a little bit.
Here are some pics of my net webbing efforts...First is with one side done, the second both done...
