The first prize donated will be a $130.00 model 54 deep water LED [51-54 LED's] LED Greenie shrimping light. These lights are going to market by the end of March 2010. I have had the honor of meeting with the engineer of this LED light. We had dinner on Feb 8th and he allowed me to toss the prototype into the water. All I can say is the LED has more clarity than the fluorescent and is the BOMB! This light is rugged and can take a beating because there are no fragile bulbs. There is a lifetime warranty against leaks and 5 year warranty on the LED lights. The light is 11 inches and weighs under 2 pounds, 33 foot cord. The light field was 20+ foot plus.
I will be playing with this new technology for a couple of weeks to see how it does in a variety of conditions. From what I have seen already .... no question I am ditching my fluorescents and going 100% LED. The light field is more vibrant which is what I need when Oak Hill is loaded with nasty in the river.
