Here are the few pics I took at the end of the event. I kinda fell out while waiting in the basin to pull the boat out. Got dizzy cooking in the heat waiting for the trailer to hit the ramp. Once I found the BBQ and shade I bounced back in 2 seconds once I cooled down...the camera was not a priority. Fish On dug out the camera for me to take a few pics especially the Shumaker Net winner...and the camera fell on her foot during the transfer from her hands to mine. The neck strap got hung up on the picnic table boards and pulled out of my hand and the lens sliced her toe. She see's a Doc Friday and I am glad it will be looked at.I did not shoot any pics on the water, it was to crazy for me to do it....
Here is member ArdenLee throwing his new 10 foot Shumaker Net dyed a deep fuscia which is the HOTTEST color this year amongst the commercial guys and men period.....the net is gorgeous in person with that beautiful sewn in webbing.
I want to share this.. Capt Ed spent hours under the water with mask and gear to study how his nets deploy under water. With this information he perfected his craft. This is why the Shumaker net is the net to own...he also makes this net based on your physical needs or for those with medical issues or disabilities.
He has made a 10 foot net that weighed 6 lbs. He is absolutely amazing!
If it were not for Capt Ed and his ability to truly customize the net to my physical needs, I would never be able to get out of a Walmart Chinese made $20 --4 foot bait net. I need a low weight net tdue o no abdominal muscles [over 8 belly surgeries] and 2 ruptured discs in my neck.
THANK-YOU CAPT ED! He is running a back log but the wait is worth it...last year we had reports of white shrimping being caught during the day in early January. Granted, we had a 1,000,000 fish kill prior which prevented the shrimp from being consumed.
Great crowd on Saturday, we tried to keep the get together small due to some permit issues. Every season the cast net seminar is really cozy compared to our large crowds for our winter shrimping seminar which are 200+ in attendance.
THANK-YOU all for coming and supporting the site! We are now ready to begin designing our new website T-SHIRTS, follow the thread, and give me your .02 cents!
Order this net! In the mean time, use an old bait net and duct tape both sides. The webbing fully extends the net. Capt Ed said if a net has no webbing and it is a 10 foot net, it will perform as a 7 foot net. The webbing will give you a full 10 foot performance/20 foot diameter.
Capt Ed's phone is 386-566-9097, Ormond area I believe.
