We use bait in shallow water,no need to use it in deep water where you can't cast directly on it.
here is what you need,no mixing-no drying-no mess.
I have tried it all over the years, check the rules on stakes and salt.
You would have to buy allot of cans of cat food to bait 100 or 200 foot stretch10 foot apart, this is what all the hard core shrimpers use.
you buy this at feed stores in 50 pound bags, accept no other junk if they try to sell it to you(small hog pellets-rabbit food etc)
I am not saying the other stuff won't work but make the best of your time when you get out there, kick butt and look good doing it.
The bait stores here will cut the bags up in to little ones and mark it up big time, don't go for it.
50 pound bags should be about 14 to 20 dollars, the swine breeded pellets are the best, the are square and don't roll on the bottom (in the current)and stay where you put them so you can cast directly on them, over and over, you should be pulling pieces of it up when you are casting on it.
the shrimp bait cubes work good also but cost a little more and are round.
Here are some pictures if anyone wants to try,let me know if anyone has any questions at all, I laying it all out here
I will be looking for you guys and gals to school me on the shrimp dipping,I have never done it and can't wait to see how it's done ant try it.
here are some pictures to help trying to buy it.
two more free tips
1-don't buy more than you need for the season,it will dry out over the several months,I have seen it old and will loose it smell any may even try to float! I have used 25 to 30 pounds on a good night,if you get on them don't be stingy with the bait.
2-Don't tell the guys at the feed store you are using it for shrimping when you are buying the swine breeder pellets(hog /pig food),it tends to make the price go up,tell them you are feededyour hogs !!
