Hi folks,
I have a question that I hope someone can answer for me. I'm pondering the purchase of a boat that has a kingfishing/wahoo/dolphin permit available with it. The boat needs some cosmetic work but is a functional fishing boat as is. Single diesel engine, comes with electronics, and has been recently had a significant amount of work done to it (new stringers, rebuilt decks, etc.) I like the boat, but am wondering if I ought to spring for the permits which I believe can be bought for $3500 additional.
I'm one of those people that is pretty happy being self-employed and after 55 years still has a good work ethic...just not too happy about the job market. I live in Sebastian.
Therefore my question would be:
Is there any money to be made in the commercial fishing business or are the permits I see for sale due to there NOT being any money to be made?
Any additional comments would be welcome.
Thanks!
