Don't forget the rules change for fishing past 3 miles.

Besides the FWC license you provide for your guest. Federal Fishing Permits
are required to target or retain.
1) HMS - highly migratory speceis (tuna, shark, billfish)
2) Dolphin / Wahoo
3) Snapper Grouper (most all bottom fishnig)
4) Cpastal Pelagic (Kings, Cobia, etc.)
5) NOAA Commerce card

The rules are constantly changing, and its up to the boat operator to keep up.
The boat must be commercially registered with the state, and have either the fwc
fishing license for the boat, of the captain muct have a captains fishng license to
cover the guest. The boat will be under federal rules, even if it spends the day
within 3 miles, once federally permitted!

Insurance actually is not a requiement, though it should be!


USCGAux offers a free UPV inspection to ensure compliance for near coastal
boats (to 100 miles). Its a lot more than the ramp inspections, including drug
testing kits, life rings, emergency plans, etc. Call them for an appointment.

Be prepared for "sticker shock" when you look at your first monthly gas bill!!!
