I have been down here now for a week and just got out this past weekend in the surf. I am staying just north of the entrance to the CNS across the road from JBs. This is where I am most winters until the end of March.
This is the best start to surf fishing in a few years. On Sunday I had a limit of nice pompano and an equal number of decent whiting plus a few blues. A friend of mine has caught two keeper reds too this past week. Shrimp and clam for bait.
The surf and tides have been perfect for the dawn bite. Tomorrow will be perfect too so anywhere from south NSB to into the CNS to lot 5 should produce a good bite at dawn until mid-morning.
A buddy from Melbourne Beach has had three terrific outings last week at Playalinda.
I was out once in my flats boat in the Lagoon fishing Slippery Creek and Orange Island for a bunch of trout with some keepers in the catch but everything C&R'd.
Looking to get out in the lower river for sheepshead soon too.
