Hi,
I am new to shrimping and the board but have lurked around alot. I picked up a dip net from Ron and an LED light at the flea market, so I should be equipped half way right, all I need to do now is to go out and catch the little buggers!!
My question is about shrimp baiting. Is it feasable to do in the Indian River, Banana River or Mosquito Lagoon? From what I have read, baiting is ususally done in a more tidal area. It seems like baiting is the preferred method just up the coast in Charleston, SC. If it does work in this environment and I am not sure why it would not, does anyone have a recipe for bait balls? It seems that Menhaden fish meal is the prime ingredient mixed with either clay, mud or some other binder. Are there any local suppliers of fish meal?
This board has been a big help understanding what I am getting into.
Thanks
